My Story
Hi, I’m Janice Vawter, a Canadian traveller, lifelong learner, and the heart behind Tanzania Dreaming Ltd.
Tanzania Dreaming was founded on a simple but powerful idea; that travel should be personal, purposeful and rooted in respect.
Nearly two decades ago, I cam to Tanzania for the first time as a volunteer. I worked with women and children in a rural village, hoping to make a difference, but what I didn't expect was how deeply this place would change me. Since then, I've split my life between Canada and Tanzania, building not just friendships but a second home in this remarkable country. I heard the same heartfelt request from friends and fellow travellers - especially woman say: “I want to go with you!”
They were intrigued by Tanzania but hesitant to go alone. They were inspired by my solo journeys, and wanted to experience that same freedom but wanted the comfort of travelling with someone they trusted, who had experienced Tanzania as a foreigner, knew the language, the culture and the way around.
